A non-motorized trail network for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The "Top of the World" viewpoint offers sweeping Sierra views from Mt. Diablo to Mt. Lyell near Yosemite. Dogs welcome when kept on heel.

Moaning Cavern

Home to the largest single cave chamber in California. Descend a 100-foot spiral staircase into the depths, or opt for the adventure tour with rappelling. A steady 60°F year-round makes it perfect on hot summer days.

Mercer Caverns & California Caverns

The region boasts four major cavern systems. Mercer Caverns is popular and accessible, while California Caverns offers the longest tour with rare formations. Black Chasm Caverns features stunning helictites. Book ahead on weekends.

At Al's Chalet

Arnold's location offers incredible dark skies. On clear nights, you can see the Milky Way right from the chalet deck. Best viewing is typically 2 hours after sunset. We provide a star chart in the living room.
